This is a very old remedy and it dates back to before the time when the average carpet contained a lot of synthetic fibres, so if you can heat-test a specimen first that would be advisable. But it it seems OK, then scrape off as much of the wax as possible (sorry to be the obvious) then take some old-fashioned brown paper - the kind they use for wrapping parcels, shouldn't have a shiny surface - and place that several thicknesses deep over the stain and apply a hot iron. Theoretically the wax will be heated and absorbed by the paper. But *do* try a specimen first, because this is definitely a Grandma's remedy.

Hi
There is two ways to remove wax from carpet.
1/ Use the edge of a butter knife to carefully scrape off or lift up as much solid wax as you can .Use a dry clean white terrycloth place it over the wax spot then heat it with a iron on low setting because most homes have polyester carpet, and if the iron gets too hot, it'll melt the carpet. Keep checking the spot every ten seconds or so, moving the terrycloth so that a clean spot is on the carpet.
2/ Which is the better way. Use the edge of a butter knife to carefully scrape off or lift up as much solid wax as you can Heat up a full kettle of water and pour it slowly on the carpet at the same time with a wet vac vacuum up the water. Keep on doing this until the wax is removed.

Rub all over the wax first with an ice-cube and try and scrape as much of it off as you can using a blunt knife. Then, you need a very hot iron and brown paper....it must be brown paper as it is very absorbent. Place several sheets of brown paper on top of each other and place a hot iron over on top of the paper. The heat from the iron will melt the wax and it will be absorbed into the brown paper. Depending on how big your spill is - you may need to do this several times. Don't leave the hot iron on the brown paper for too long as it might scorch your carpet....and you'll never get that out!!! I have done this many times - it works. Good luck!

Take a brown paper bag and go over the top of it with an iron until the heat brings the wax to stick to the bag...works everytime. If it's colored wax, you might need a stain lifter afterward.

you can try this.
get a damp wash rag. and lay it over top of the wax area and get your iron and heat it up and put on top of wash rag and when the heat goes Thur the wet rag. it will draw up the wax. watch very carefully, don't let the iron burn threw the wet rag. repeat it several times.
watch very carefully.

Mrs Gavan is correct. You can also use a wad (a few sheets) of paper towels, which absorb more. Keep replacing the paper until it comes away dry.
