What popular artist/group, any genre, enjoy fame and fortune and you just don't understand all the hype?
For me it's Hootie and the Blowfish! What is up with them? All of their songs sound the same...I also don't see what is so great about Barbra Striesand! I cannot stand that woman's voice.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Streisand is awful these days. Hasn't been worth listening to since 1978. She should spend less effort promoting liberal Democrats and more effort remembering how to sing.
Greatful Dead. They are now even more legendary due to the death of Jerry Garcia, but that band has sucked for decades.
Jim Morrison. A marginal singer, a drunk, and an all-around jerk to people. Died - now he's a legend. "Out here in the perimeter there are no stars...out here we is stoned... immaculate". What?!
Dixie Chicks. That horrible rendition of "Landslide" made me want to projectile vomit on myself. Smashing Pumpkins did a much better version.
Hootie & the Blowfish were one-hit wonders (and even that one hit was boring). They have a recent CD, but it's not making an impression with anybody.
Bob Dylan. He can't sing, period. I don't care if his lyrics are "poetry" or whatever. If my basset hound recited awesome poetry by howling it, it still wouldn't sound good and I wouldn't want to listen to it.
Ozzy Osbourne. Hasn't had a decent recording since 1982 ("Diary of a Madman"). But everyone knows who he is and he is worth billion$.

I know this probably won't be too popular of a response but I can't see what is so great about the ENTIRE genre of punk rock. I mean its just a group of angry rich white kids who get playing too loud and too fast confused with playing good rock music. I mean is it just me or does anyone else feel the same? I like rap, I like hard rock. Both are loud, but both are good. Punk is just one guy up there doing his best to try and saw the guitar strings in half with his pick, while another guys wails away at the drums as fast as he can regardless of the beat or rythm and another guy drones on monotonously in a sing songy voice about falling off his skateboard because his girlfriend left him for someone cooler.

Unfortunately people tend to rate singers/group by the whole package instead of talent alone. I agree that there are some real sucky groups that are very popular because they have a certian look or target a certain age group of trend. Some other factors that falsly elevate the ratings.. sex..sex.. and more sex apeal..
