No, plant cells do have mitochondria. Chloroplasts and photosynthesis essentially take the place of eating and digestion, but the mitochondria are still necessary to convert sugars into energy.

Photosynthesis is not a process of energy release. In photosynthesis plants produce carbohydrates (a kind of organic substances) from water, carbon dioxide and energy from the sun. You can think of it as a process of storage of energy in plant cells. In order to use this energy, however, plants need to break down the synthesised substances to the initial ones with the release of the invested energy. This is done in the mitochondria and is known as cellular respiration. Maybe you are wondering what the point of all those complex chemical conversions is and why cells do not simply use sunlight? The problem is that all living cells can use for work only a special kind of energy, called chemical, or the energy, stored in chemical compounds.

NO, they do not. Very few eukaryotes lack mitochondria. Chloroplasts mean you can make energy from light, but that doesn't change the fact that mitochondria do the electron transport chain/oxidative phosphorylation that results in more ATP per glucose molecule than you get with glycolysis or fermentation alone.

Plants have mitochondria. Only a few protists don't (as far as eukaryotes are concerned).

no, they also have mitochondria and do cellular respiration just like all other organisms. They have to burn glucose to make energy too to do other metabolic reactions that keep them alive as well as do photosynthesis.

No they too have mitochondria and they too do cellular respiration. Chloroplasts only manufacture food. But mitochondria use the food.

cellular respiration occurs in all living things including plants. It uses products of photosynthesis as reactants.
C6H12O6 + O2 ----------------------- CO2 + H2O + ATP(energy)
reverse this equation than u will find out that it is photosynthesis.
