I like to go to clubs and dance. I like crocheting and cross stitching. I need to write a 7 minute informative speech on a hobby of mine. I just don't see 7 minutes coming from any of these. I played softball, but I can't talk about experiences. I have to be informative, like teaching the class about something. What could I do? I think I'm going to have to make a hobby up.

take either crocheting or cross stitching. first introduce your hobby, then describe it, then explain the pleasure you receive in the process. explain how both leave you alone to communicate with yourself, thus resolve your problems and relax and why they work better than therapy in keeping you healthy. i admire all your hobbies. you need to be proud of them too.

I would go with the crocheting or cross stitching. Everyone goes to clubs but not a lot of people can do either one of those. And you can say how you learned to do it, what you have made in the past, why you like doing it, bring something you have made, talk about where it all began. Do some research on line and find out some interesting facts........like World records or something fun.

cross-stitching seems interesting, you can google it and see a little about its history, start with that (what year, why it was used etc) then u can talk about why u like it and how u started it as a hobby of yours and u can bring some samples that u did and show them to the others. I think that could cover 7 min
and it would be informative too
BTW I have no idea what cross-stitching is, it sounds fun though

Speech is not about what hobby and all, you got to make it interesting by the opening, and that is to share a personal story with it. Find out more on how to write a 7 minutes speech, and get a possible A

Use crocheting--talk about differents items you make. Different types of yarn--different sizes or specks--whatever you call it--of yarn. Differnet size hooks you use and why. Explain the different stitches. There's so many. How crocheting and cross stitching are similar or different. Good luck.

Josh, may I be the first to congratulate you on a wonderfully prepared essay. Very well done. I will correct a little bit of punctuation for you and that is all. a. comma after 'large family, small 'p' for probably and a comma after 'that' and before 'noise.' b. I would have put Israeli Military in capital letters. Your dad may tell you that you are correct, so check it out with him. c. sports fanatic. sports is expressed in the plural form. d. 'Buffalo' is a proper nound so requires a capital B. e. you need to have 'into' and not 'in' for your 'since pharmacy schools are extremely difficult to be accepted into ...' f. remove the comma after 'include.' There is no sense of a pause required, is there, so no comma. e. 'past', in the form you use it, should be spelled 'passed.' f. 'was' is properly used in your4 second last line, not 'were.' Your pronoun it, which is the subject of 'was' (3rd person singular)is, your ear will tell you which is the proper form to use. I would have corrected terms like 'cop' putting in 'police officer.' Likewise, I would have substituted 'children' for your 'kids'. They are slang words and would not normally be acceptable in formal English. But since this is meant to be heard and you will be required to seem as if it really is you delivering this talk, I think it is fair enough to leave them in. But do not do that for an essay that is a test of your ability to express ideas in English. Just a point to mention, numbers in an essay are usually spelled out for all numbers from one to ninety-nine. But, because you are giving a lot of small numbers, it comes over better. You have to be a very clever writer to be able to do that, in my book. You do not have to change anything. But take your speech and sit in front of a mirror and read it out. Can any of your brothers and sisters join you? Invite them. Read it out to your audience ten times. That should make you quite comfortable with it. It is always of benefit for a speaker to have a real audience. Read it out at school, too. Your little practice will make you word perfect. Don't be frightened. I'll tell you a little secret. Every one of your class mates will be so happy that it is you and not them up there at the front that you could tell them you want to be Napoleon and they would not even notice. Best wishes for a great school performance.

You're kidding, right? I once gave such a speech on aquarium setup and maintenanc. You know crochet? Teach it! Where do fibers come from? What is spinning? Who does it and what can you do with it? What does it mean, knit one, perl two? I'm sure you know enough to ask more and better questions. Ask them, then answer them!
