A couple questions: Do inmates(people who murdered somebody but aren't gonna be killed) have chores? Is this is a good thing? or bad? I like in NC, do you have any sites for me to see? 'm just curious. . .

All inmates in NC that are physically and mentally able are assigned to work and/or educational programs. Some learn a trade that can be used on the outside while others make license plates (yes, that's real) or do clean-up/janitorial work around the prison. Many NC inmates are taken out as work cadres to state buildings for cleaning purposes. They are also used in a huge furniture manufacturing plant that provides furniture to many state agencies.

Since most inmates will eventually be released back into society, it is worthwhile for them to learn some skills, even if it is just how to get up and report to a job every day, to try to help them be law abiding. Not to mention, idle hands are the devil's plaything! Working while in prison keeps them busy!

There are many sites for more info on nc prisoners. Try http://www.doc.state.nc.us/eprise/about/work.html and then look around some more.
