A person I work with is playing music on Yahoo over his speakers at his cubicle. It is very annoying, he thinks people like it. But when I answer the phone my customers can hear his rap music blaring. Its a workplace, what is he thinking? What can I do?

It will continue until you tell him. Say your customers can hear it, and that you don't like it and it's not proper office etiquette.
A less direct way - buy him a pair of headphones.

Well I think you have to tell your supervisor that your customers are complaining about it. That will end it fast and you won't look like the bad guy. Just say they heard people swearing, if he is listening to rap then I'm sure they have heard swearing. That would drive me nuts too. Good Luck.

Hi, that's an anger issue that guy is dealing with and he wants someone to go over there to complain so he can get all righteous.

Just go straight to your supervisor. That's why they make the bucks. He or she should be able to find a way to deal with the disruption.

You should tell him to please turn down the music and that it is very annoying and that you cannot get any work done. I would also report the problem to the boss, so that the boss can take the matters into his/her hands.

talk to your supervisor and speak up for yourself. Have you tried confronting him about it? If not, try doing that first. IF he doesn't stop talk to your supervisor and complain.

You need to tell him that it bothers you and is a disturbance to your work, and mention it to your sup.
