My son is 2, and I'm getting him the backyardagians play sets, and characters, dinosaurs, a bike with training wheels on it, cuz he loves his sister's bike, and more of the little people play sets and characters.
Just some ideas, hope it helps.

Great question! I think a good old fashioned set of wooden blocks are the best gift for boy or girl. What 2-year-old doesn't delite in buliding something and then knocking it all down? And all little boys love trucks. A Tonka dump truck would be an awesome gift! Or one of those really huge fire trucks.

You can never go wrong with a book. It does wonders at such an early age. Think now of your child's future.

If you want to get him something that can help him, I would suggest the Leapfrog LeapPad. It's fun and will help him with things such as words, shapes, colors and counting depending on what "games" you get. I got one for my son when he was that age and he loved it.
