I'm 37 weeks pregnant with twins and after my growth scan yesterday showed decent to large twins, my dr. stripped my membranes in an attempt to start labor. I have a high pain tolerance and have felt some contractions but nothing major and not enough to go to L&D, but i've been having rather bad nausea that started about an hour after the stripping. I was just wondering if anyone knows what could be causing this and if theres anything I can do to stop it. I didn't sleep at all last night between cramping and upset stomach so any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you can put something in your belly you might feel better.

The onset of labor is induced by hormones in the body, and those hormones can make some women sick to their stomach, the same effect as morning sickness.

Try eating some toast, or drinking some juice. You're going to need your energy anyway.

And walk, if youre allowed out of bed. it will help move things a long for you.

maybe just a coincidence that the nausea started right after the procedure, more likely that early labor has begun. Maybe the doc can give you something for the nausea, you do need to at least stay hydrated, and eat a bit if you can - you're going to need every ounce of energy you can get, whether you're having the babies naturally or by c-section. Good luck my dear, it'll all be behind you soon enough - then the real work begins!

Probably the baby laying against your stomach, if it is bothering you very bad call your doc and tell them , they might want to induce labor if it is getting in the way of you eating (hint hint, if your doctor thinks you are not eating they will induce labor for fear that the babies will not get enough nutrition, lets say you are throwing up because of the nausea that would not be a good thing) Good Luck!

I know with me, the nigth before I gave birth. I had bad nausea as well as diarrhea. I was told it helps clean you out before birth.

But that was just my experience. i would call the doctor and ask if this is a normal reaction after such a procedure.

Goodluck.

nasea is a sympton of near labor. why, i am not sure. something to do with the raised level of hormone right before labor kicks in. so it's supposed to be normal. old wives tale is that this makes sure you don't eat anything because you will only throw it up when you start your labor.

try ice chips or a sugary popsicle to ease the feeling

Hope you packed your bag
If not do so.
Sounds to me that your having contractions.
You need to go get checked and find out
How dilated you are.
Have them monitor the twins heartbeat
and make sure they are not stressed.

Some women get nauseated and sick while in labor. you may want to go to L&D just to find out if you are dilating at all.
