They come out of the washer all rough and itchy. So I don't wear them. I have used softener in the washer and dry and still nothing. Please can anyone help? Thanks in advance

it depends on the material of the shirt - some of them are never going to be soft, no matter what you do or how many times you wash them. It's the same with sheets - the cheap ones that are like 180 thread count, are never going to be soft.

Do your other clothes and towels come out "rough and itchy" as well?? It could be that you have hard water issues. You might try about a half cup of "Calgon Water Softner" to your laundry, in addition to your detergent. Also, try using less detergent. If it calls for a cup in a large load, try using a half cup. Your clothes will still get clean with less soap...there won't be as much build up on your clothes. Hope this helps! Good luck!

You may have hard water to which you can add Borax detergent that is made for hard water. Also you may be adding too much soap, follow the dirrections. Put a tennis ball in the dryer it may help soften the clothes. Also, dont use bleach, it breaks down fabric faster.

I would use a hard water softner. Then use double the liquid softner.

don't wash it in the regular soap
put it in wool lite and then use your dryer sheets and it should be much better.
