It's not new, but you may buy him any Special Edition of any disc of Cradle of Filth... once I saw one with the case as a coffin...

I just bought Potter's Field by 12 Stones, and I've been pleasantly surprised. The Elektra soundtrack is also a good mixed bag for that sort of thing. You could also go vintage and get him some classic Iggy and the Stooges or Rollins or Husker Du or Ministry. You could also go with some of the early 80's British punk bands. My suggestion would be to troll the used record stores; especially the ones run by chain-smoking, stoney, middle-aged ex-punkers. Ask for suggestions re: vintage punk/goth/industrial stuff. Good luck!

Punk Music:

Anti-Flag just came out with a CD. That's if he likes punk music similar to Green Day. It's very political (anti-Bush) though.

The Casualties just came out with an album. Get that if he likes Street or Oi! Punk. That also is political.

Flogging Molly just came out with a compilation of some of their hits. They are awesome. Get that is he likes Irish Punk. Again with the politics.

Bad Brains '82 live show at CBGB just came out on CD, but it only features old music.

Horror Pops are good if your husband likes horror punk like the Misfits. They're a little gothabilly too though.

There are always punk compilations that are okay. Not the Warped Tour ones, but the other ones that cost about 6 bucks and come out every few months. They are pretty good and cheap. You can find them in Best Buy.

Goth music:

Bella Morte (which is a local band but is known worldwide in the Goth Scene) just came out with their new CD. I believe it is entitled "Paint the Grey Sky Black". Can't be positive, but you can order it through Best Buy. I've heard cuts from it on a local station and it is very good. I also recommend their CD "Where Shadows Lie", which is a few years old. "WSL" is a classic. They're more synth-goth/deathrockers.

Dead Can Dance's latest CD (2005) is a semi-compilation CD with a few new cuts on it. They fall under World/Ethereal/Goth. If your husband liked the music to Gladiator then he will like DCD because Lisa Gerrard who composed the Gladiator soundtrack is part of DCD.

Depeche Mode's "Playing the Angel" is more industrial gothic, but is definitely some of Depeche's darker material.

Virgin Black is awesome. They play Gothic metal. Their last album was 2004's Elegant But Dying. They are releasing two works in 2007 (not sure you can wait that long). One will be orchestra like goth music and the other will be dark goth-metal.

Lacuna Coil just came out with a CD a few months ago as well. It's pretty good. You can find that at Best Buy too. They fall under gothic metal too.

I'll recommend a little light goth which I consider Evanescence. Don't let their popularity fool you, "Open Door" is a fairly decent record.

The Last Dance is good if your husband likes dance-goth-industrial music. They can be found on the Dancing Ferret record company.

Anders Manga is an excellent Goth/Industrial artist. His CD is about a year old but awesome.

I believe Gary Numan just came out with new material too.

Check into the Metropolis website. They are the record company of Bella Morte and Birthday Massacre and are pretty good. Also, Dancing Ferret is pretty good as a record company. Check into Projekt too. They are home to Voltaire.

Also, if your husband has not expressed a love for Marilyn Manson, do NOT buy him a MM cd. Most goths will cringe at a MM cd.

hmm,
in the terms of punk:
7 seconds, the exploited,
lower class brats, sham 69,

and if he's open to variety
then you might try RAMMSTEIN,
just for the heck of it.

listen to them online
and see how they sound..

(you can do that by looking
them up on myspace or itunes)
