Most states have searchable databases on websites for their inmates. The feds do too. Search for the state and "department of correction" or some such and look around.

The best site for looking up prisoners, I found to be is
www.bop.gov. Not sure if you're talking about Federal or State? Federal is bop.gov and state would be www.usdoj.com.
