I think it is a superiority concept. We are considered the strongest and most successful nation, and with a lack of education and lack of information about the world around us, American rational is not good. As Americans we feel that we can criticize anyone we want, but if they criticize back, they are evil.

Sure we're a Rogue nation. We were founded upon ideas of freedom and democracy, yet stole this land and obliterated its original inhabitants. We're still the envy of the world. I don't see too many people running to migrate to Iran, or Korea, or Europe. There are no better opportunities, and formerly-guaranteed freedoms than in America. We've got tons of problems, and as an American I have every right to complain and moan about them. As non-Americans, the rest of the world doesn't comprehend what it means to be American, and lack the insight and knowledge to whine about how we treat other countries. Personally, we should lead by example, by eliminating poverty, crime, bigotry, corruption, greed, waste and the other problems all nations have. Until we have a freethinking, intelligent President and pseudo-"representatives" in the USG, we will continue to set a bad example to the rest of the world.

You are absolutely right. The U.S. often dictates what policy other nations should follow, but yet the American public would become exacerbated and likely arise to violence if other nations "dared" to do the same. Duplicitously, the U.S. government rarely emulates or even follows its own adjurations. Worldwide nations are prohibited, by the U.S. government, to develop nuclear weapons because of potential misuse and yet America is the only nation to resort to nuclear warfare (with innocent civilians). Also many officials in Iraq are being tried for crimes against humanity in accordance with the Geneva Convention, but the CIA has instituted torture camps throughout the world. President Bush is actually attempting to pass a bill through Congress before the midterm election that will exempt his administration from such crimes. Evidently, America is reviled throughout the world due to its duplicity and arrogance and we are merely providing them with more justification.
Nuclear weapons are not so much of a concern for me; I am more bothered by the possibility of an EMP strike.

At this point in time I think the US is afraid of who has their guns pointed at us. While we are still a strong nation, a consolidation of outside forces can bring the US down. The US is trying to prevent this by deterring the not so friendly nations to do what we tell them. I honestly feel that if the US was not in this Iraqi conflict, we would have a massive build up of troops in Korea right now just waiting for the order.

It seems like it right now because we have Moe, Larry, and Curly as President, Vice President, and Secretary of Defense.
I'm hoping America recovers before it is too late.
