If you have a fone that can access the internet you would have to learn how it all works on your specific fone. Usually there is a place to go online and in there a menu where you can download or access messengers and send emails but without knowing what kind of phone you have its hard to answer. To sent a message to a phone, you have to have minutes in your yahoo bank, you can buy them but yahoo did give out 100 free minutes to people when it first started. You just click on the phone and dial the number and yahoo will call the phone. Or some cell fones have email adresses that you can use to send a text. If you see a contact and it says they are mobile, all you have to do is send them a message like you would if they were online and it will sent it to their phone....wow....thorough enough answer? lol

It depends on the carrier. You can use AIM to add a mobile number to your buddy list and IM it from there, either that or you go to the phone's carrier's website (www.cingular.com) for example, and you find a link that says Send A Text Message. The rest is pretty self explanatory.

Usually the you must go to the cellphone company webpage of the person you're trying to call, when you log on the webpage of the company that your friend uses just go en 'Text Messages' But if the person you're trying to reach doesn't have it activated it wont get to him or her..

depends on who the carrier of the phone is. For example...if it's Alltel, go to alltel.com and go to text messaging. It works the same with all carriers.
