B. James Patrick Page, Jan 9, 1944, Heston, Middlesex, England) Jimmy Page's first guitar influences were rockabilly guitarists Scotty Moore and James Burton, who both played on Elvis Presley recordings, and Johnny Day who played guitar for The Everly Brothers. The Presley song "Baby Let's Play House" was an early favorite on his first guitar, a Grazzioso which was like a copy of a Fender Stratocaster. Page was also a fan of acoustic folk guitar playing particularly that of Bert Jansch and John Renbourn, and the blues guitar of Elmore James and B.B. King.

Well, not to belittle Jimmy Page, but they used a lot of old blues standards and made it into heavy rock music. I shake my head when people assume they wrote all that stuff, when it was really old black guys' songs.
Did you know that in the '50s and '60s there were usually a "white" version and a "black" version of the popular songs? One good example is "Love Potion # 9" from The Coasters. (not written by them, but FOR them) It really grooves, but they used the "white" version for the radio. Even Elvis' songs came from black artists. (Listen to King Curtis) Off the subject, huh?

Mostly little know blues artists from England. Robert Johnson is one that comes to mind. But I agree with you, Jimmy Page is amazing. My all-time fave.
