For the past 6 months I have been working through a job agency. I just started my 3rd assignment 4 weeks ago as an Executive assistant for the CIO of a company. He offered the job to me last week and started the get the ball rolling with HR. Now this is the problem. The first day that I started I was handed an application and confused as to why this was handed to me because I was only on assignment I checked NO on the app where it asked have you ever been convicted of a misdemeanor. It was too late to change it last week when the job was offered to me. I went to my boss and explained everything and I mean everything in great detail. He said that he would have a talk with the Director in HR to see if we can let my error slide but he is unsure as to what the end results will be. He made it clear to me that he didn't care about a silly misdemeanor but I should always be honest about that in the future. I agree but I can't change that now. Does anyone know what may happen for me?

I think he might be able to convince HR. But they will certainly find those misdemeanors and if they aren't just what you told your boss he will lose his faith in you. If you told him the truth he can try to convince them that it was just an "honest' mistake and not a characteristic of a lying personality.

why is a query you may might desire to ask each business employer you stick to to, they are going to each have diverse reasons for that. maximum employers at the instant are not attracted to misdemeanors, merely criminal convictions. I might desire to assert, I honestly have by no skill considered an utility which distinctive the exclusion of marijuana convictions.

well they do have a right to immediatly terminate you, you sign a thing that says if you have lied they can automaticlly do that.. so... chances are they will think, well she lied about this, so what else might she lie about with the company.. I wouldnt ever do that again.

Obviously you "may" get the job or they "may" not give it to you.

There's no way of knowing but atleast the guy seemed understanding. YOu shouldnt' have lied though.

They have the prerogative to fire you for lying on your application. That's what you get for hiding the truth.

Since you were honest, they will probably let you keep your job. Employers value honesty.
