Okay here's my story, I'm 15 and living in a place where what I want to be isn't exactly encouraged (a writer for science/political fiction). So last year (when I was 14) I asked my dad if he would let me study out side of the country for the rest of my highschool career. This year he finally agreed and is willing to pay for a small apartment anywhere in the world and to send me money yada yada... and so forth. Though I know in most places there are certain laws about minors living alone or "un-supervised." I really want this chance to take charge of my life (i'm a career driven person) and I want to be able to get a chance at a real dream. So its already established that where I currently am will not help. Are there any ways I can be able to take this chance in anyplace in the world?
I'd really appreciate an answer,
thnx

Go or call your local courthouse for instructions about filing for "emancipated minor" status. If your parent agree, you will become responsible for yourself just like an adult, but don't forget, if you are no longer a minor in the eyes of the law, you become subject to adult penalties for breaking it.

First, you sound like you know what you want in life. That is great. I understand not wanting anyone controlling your life either. Consider this...

To live on your own somewhere else in the world, with no one to turn to if something goes wrong at your age is a very dangerous thing.

If you could find a Hostile (housing) in an area that would have some adult assistance without telling you what to do, then that might work.

What about an exchange student program with a host family. Make your wishes known that you do not want to be controlled but to have an adult to turn to in the country you are living in.

I know that I would not relent with my child. 17 is one thing, but 15 is much younger. At the same time, I know a young lady that is very traveled in the world but she lives with people who are of the same religion, on co-op land and such. She is usually with family friends. She is very mature and can seem to handle many things that most girls her age would not.

I know that my answers are not completely direct. My best advice is not to push the adults out of your life, in the way of guidance, too soon. You are only a child once.

You need to be legally emancipated first of all. And then where to go? How about some place like France or England? Lots of history and political events have happened there, and you'll have access to some of the finest museums and art centers in the world for your inspiration!
Good luck & I hope your dreams come true! Don't let go of them!
