why are they known as the ny jets, ny giants and neither plays in ny???? why no the nj jets, nj giants, they both suck so i guess it really dosen't matter????

i think it's a very valid question.. maybe can check out both the teams' history. sometimes names are inaccurate!

Because there is no room in NYC for those teams. In my opion they should both be New Jersey names but NY I guess looks better then the Jersey Giants or Jets. And just so you know the Jets don't even have a field it is Giants field. Go Bills

NY just comes off better than NJ (and I don't mean the way it sounds, but just it's got a better rep.)
And Buffalo resides in NY too (already said, but w/e). However it's in NY, not NYC, and to everyone outside of NY state, NYC is the only NY that matter.

hello!?!??! the buffalo bills are a real NY team. The jets and the giants are for NYC (in new jersey) which should be its own state (NYC that is)... freakin sucking funds out of upstate...

i guess that only the knicks and the rangers can truely call themselves new yorkers then...it should be the new jersey giants and jets, the long islands islanders, the flushing mets, and the bronx yankees...yeah, that will catch on.
