This is a great question. The bible has been translated by many many MEN over the years who never spoke the original language. It has been misunderstood in more ways than we can count. Therefore it is my belief that the bible we have today is chock full of interpretative license. Just try to be a good person and live your life the best you can.

I've wondered about this myself. Personally, I don't think it's God's word at all. There are too many contradictions and discrepancies. And considering the history of the Church, who's to say that it hasn't been rewritten over and over again through the years to suit the whims of the heads of church and state, thus completely changing the Bible from "God's Word" into mans? Also consider, the possible discrepancies in translations. I've tried to put faith in the Bible, but since I have no faith in people (the Bible's authors) I can't. Here's a website that gives an interesting take on it.

In the Bible it says that "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."John1:1
, meaning, he made the Bible, and he is the living word. It is not mans word, but the holy spirit speaking through man, so man could put it to paper, so to speak.
All through the Bible you see the Lord telling people to remember this, or right that down, b/c he used prophets and deciples and other people as well to recall certain events, or miracles, or laws. And believe me, don't you think God is big, smart, strong, and powerful enough to make sure his word would not be tampered or ruined throughout history! The most accurate version of the Bible is the King James version. Read it sometime, it's good.

I could write a bible right now and have many followers.....that is how powerful I could be if I told you God was talking through me....So with that being said I have no interest in the bible, never have. I have been more honest and compassionate than almost all people I know who read the bible and try to do good....how does that work? I don't know....it is a good question to ask!

There is no actual physical proof at all that the Bible is truly God's Word. We accept it by faith. We find where God spoke to Job about things that were believed error until about the 19th century. They have been proved correct. Other things the Bible speaks about have, through time, come to be known as truth. By faith and by the inability to prove the facts in the Bible incorrect. I personally believe it and rejoice in the hope I receive from it.

We don't know. That's why there's a little thing called FAITH.
I believe everybody has that little inner voice telling them what is right and wrong. Listen to it!
The Bible is good to read, but you need to develop your own sense of what is good and just. Some people need the Bible more than others.

It is naive to believe that the words of Jesus have been
a. accurately translated
b. untampered with by politicians, emperors, or other power brokers
c. unchanged by scribes who themselves were unenlightened
d. correctly remembered years later (the first transcription was 4 years after his death).
There are numerous contradications in the accounts of disciples, and if this is the "literal word of God" then we are allowed to sell our children into slavery, forbidden from wearing clothes of different fibers, and can be stoned to death for working on the Sabbath or touching pigskin (Dallas Cowboys beware).

Well I believe that if God is "all Powerful" then why doesn't He set things straight? Why does He rely on man to do everything for Him?
I know people like that. They don't try to fix everything. and they get other people to do their work for them, rather than doing themselves.
They are called supervisors. The lazy ones just let things happen, then one who believe in what they are doing try to train others to do it right.
AS far as religion goes, I see "people" training other "people" and telling them what is "right". I don't see God anywhere.
Sorry I got a Little wordy and opinionated. I just don't understand why so many people believe in that book. It has been changed by "people", not revised by God.

You can apply this question to anything, though God Word, if you really listen, you can ear then, better than read then., perhaps I can write for you some of such words, right now, but base in your question, I will not....., Why????, not because I can read your mind, not at all, But, because common sense has tell me that, if you which to learn how to find out what is real and what isn't, you need to learn how to listen to HIM(God), that he is, and he exist, everywhere and anywhere at all times and not just in the Bible. especially in peoples with good heart and pure mind, and in peoples with clear and clean intentions. This are his words if you please, it will please me. God bless you, in the mane of Jesus .Amen.

The Bible is a collection of documents written by many different people over a period of over 1,000 years.
The only evidence within the Bible that it is God's word and not man's is from the Bible itself, which says (written by a man, Paul): 'all Scripture is inspired by God.' So that is a circular argument.
The only other reason for accepting that the Bible is inspired by God is because the early church (c. 400 A.D.)accepted that it was.
