When I play my guitar (an old classical), my right bicep has a tendency to press against the guitar body. The feeling is disconcerting. The problem couldn't be that my biceps are too big, so what could it be? Bad posture? Unnecessary tensing of the arm (ie flexing)?

to play classical property, you're supposed to cradle the bottom of the guitar between your legs and sit up straight rather than putting the cut-away part of the body on your thigh as most people do.

Make sure you are sitting in a stool or a chair STRAIGHT
Hold the giutar as you normally would (left hand holding the neck and right hand preparing to strum)
DONThold your arm OUT, to avoid your problem.....thats not only uncomfortable but incorrect. Its not that your biceps are too big unless you got arems the size of tree trunks. You can either cove yur arm a little ways up or down to avoid your problem

Not sure, but I assume you are sitting when you play, right?

You might try taller and shorter chairs to help elevate or lower your body connection between leg, arm and guitar.

You might also try the classical guitar position, resting the body on your LEFT leg and maybe try a foot stool to elevate the leg.

It could, I suppose, be bad posture, but when I play my guitar my arm is pressed up against it and that helps me play.

I would say bad posturing.Try to be conscious of the position of your arm while picking. It will eventually become natural.

Not sure, but look at other Guitarists (professionals) and see how they are poised.
