I agree u have to achieve something before u die.. & leave ur mark on earth.. But who said this has to be by discovering a cure for Cancer or finding a way for world peace? (Although I wish u every success to do so) ...

If u love all the ppl who come ur way.. If u go the extra mile for someone in need, if u give a supportive hand or a loving hug....

if you are kind to ppl but yet wise, if u love without expecting return, & forgive without being fooled..

If you teach someone how to do something s/he never knew how 2 do before, or how 2 overcome a pain, or pass a tough situation..

If u do one or more of all the above, or others of ur own.. I am sure u will leave ur mark & yr name will be spoken of after ur long life...

God bless!

Greatness is relative. You can be called great by being a super CEO, a great sportsman or a movie star. You can be a great person also by loving and caring for people deeply, doing something you love with passion or leaving behind a child who has been trained to face this world with love and courage.

In the first case, when you die, the world will say," He was a great CEO/movie star." In the second case, the few people who felt your love- your friends, colleagues, your child will say "He sure was a great man."

So it is not whether you will be great. You will be. Its just a question of who you would prefer to call you great.

Well, it would be nice. It can't hurt to try but we don't all have to achieve "great things" in life. I think Mother Teresa said "we can do no great things in life, only little things with great love"...just live the best life you can, making yourself & others happy. We don't all have to change the world. Little things count too. Just live a good life. Have no regrets.

None of us know when we'll leave the world. That's why it's important to make the most of each day.

Maybe instead of being spoken about, you should simply impact peoples lives, even if they do not remember your name. I am studying to be a first grade teacher, and I had asked myself the same thing, and realized (and this is probally my favoriate quote of all time) that a life is not measured by its legnth but by the impact on the lives around it. In this case, how long someone remembers your name is meaningless if you have done nothing for them. It is better to do the right thing for someone and be a positive influence and not have your name remembered than to be someone who has done nothing and have your name remembered for it (wow thats a good quote too...)

Just be yourself and do your own thing. That is all that anyone can expect you to do. You never know how your normal daily routine may affect someone. You may do something simple like smile at someone on the street which causes that person to get in a good mood which causes them to be nice to their kid. It's the little things that have great affects. A name does not need to be associated with each and every action. I hope this helps.

You don't have to go out of your way to make a name for yourself for after you die. But if you're planning on diing, it would be good to find something, or many things that intersest you and go forth with it. Just be yourself and do what you want as long as it is a good thing. Set a good example, be a good role model, and do what you love. Love your friends and family, and you will not be forgotten. Or you could go out of your way and make a huge impression that no one will ever forget, or something.

OF COURSE YOU SHOULD.!!!! DON'T BE A LAZY NOTHING! DO SOMETHING!!!Achieving something great in the world is the only way to prove that you existed. People who go through life just "living" are wastes of precious life energy. Whether its "good" or "evil" a life without achievement is a wasted life.

Hummm, I don't understand what you're saying after the question. But, isn't it good enough to leave behind the knowledge that you lived a good and happy life?
Of course, for me as a Christian, that means living for Jesus.

If you love with all your heart and treat others with kindness it doesn't get much greater. Can you imagine the world and how great it could be if we all did those two simple things.
