I've been with my boyfrined for 4 years now...i love romance, just as most women do. I have been trying to encourage him to be more romantic like little things....writing me a little note and hiding it in my purse for me to find, leaving a flower on my car when im in work, setting up the bedroom all nice with candles, getting me a card/making one for no specific reason. any things like that that don't cost money...he says he loves me ALL THE TIME, and still after 4 yrs continuously complimenting me on being beautiful and the woman he wants for ever...and so on...but sometimesi just feel like the romance is missing, and i love words but actions always speak louder for me! What can i do, will he ever be able to grasp that?

You be the one. He's likely to pick up some of the habits but maybe not as much as you'd like. Leave notes for him, have candles glowing, etc.. My husband said he had never had a candlelight dinner til I came along (we aren't what you'd consider all that young) and he enjoyed it enough to set it up himself the next time.

After four years of being together I would think this guy would show a romantic side every once in a while. Maybe a little talk would do. Maybe he's just not doing those things because he doesn't think they're important. On the other hand, if he get defensive or mad, then you have to decide how much those things do matter to you. At this point, I'm sorry to say that if he hasn't shown romance yet, he probably won't ever, unless you bluntly ask him to.

Probably not...and don't try to change him, just except him for what and who he is. Be glad he isn't an over bearing, jealous, controlling, abusive kind of person....those are the ones who are more "romantic" in their own weird sort of way. My husband is very thoughtful, kind and loving...but romantic? Forget it. He shows it in many other ways....he loves to travel, fine dining, expensive tastes etc. Reverse it and leave him little notes..get him a card...leave it in the fridge or his underwear drawer. He will get the hint. If not it is still fun to do. Love him for who he is and let it be.

If you truely love him UNCONDITIONALLY then it doesn't matter how he shows his affection. As long as you know that he loves you that should be enough. I am having the same problem too...I can't even get my bf to staop saying "ya" in front of "love you" but I know he really means it and that is all that matters. Some guys just aren't romantic by nature and you can't force him to be.

I agree it is not enough to just say it , he has to show it.
well mama if he wont show it on his own why not give him a push.like tell him what you want and when.he will eventually get the hang of it am sure.
if not he is just a big meanie.
