How should I handle this? At any normal company I probably wouldn't have this problem and if I did I'm sure it would be settled professionally, but my situation is different. I worked part-time at this title insurance company for a very brief period. I left because I found a great full-time position(better pay &benefits) and also because the manager just had too many dum rules (no talking, no checking your private email, you can't eat at your desk only the little white table, no set schedule-she tells you when to leave, drastic change in job description, etc.) Anyway, you get the picture, so I think she had a bit of an attitude that I left and now I'm wondering how I should handle her not sending the paycheck out because it was supposed to get here today. I don't desperately need the money because I found a new job, but it's the principal. She's so petty and rude that I'm wondering should I just wait a day and see if it arrives tomorrow.
What would you do? Wait or handle it now?

No, I don't owe any uniforms, etc. And, yes she said that we will mail your last check out next week. Also, its a very small company which is why I think they try to get over on people. In my time being there, they witheld a days wages from one woman who came in late (yet still work all of her hours) and at another time tried to get me, a part-time worker to sign a contract to work 40hrs or more without benefits. "this way we will not be liable if anything happens to you" says the manager. So as you can see I'm dealing with snakes!

See if it arrives tomorrow, if not start trying to figure out a way to get the paycheck. Does she have a district manager (or someone else own the company)? If so try to find out what there phone numbers are, because you may need to call them about the paycheck. She can't legally keep it from you, but you may have to go above her head to get it in a timely manor. If you have a real hard time getting it, go the the Better Business Bureau site (www.bbb.org) and report it to them (unpaid wages) they will look into it, and I bet you get your money pretty quick then.. Anyways, good luck.

Wait an extra day to see if your check comes in tomorrow. If not, then call her first thing Monday morning OR go and SEE her face to face and ask what happened to your last check and demand that she either tells you when she mailed it or hand it over. You can do this without coming across rude. Sounds to me like she has poor management skills and someone above her needs to know about this.
Good Luck with your new job!

She may be expecting you to come in and pick it up ( another dum rule? ). So, I would call and courteously ask if she has mailed your check out and when you should expect it. I would wait a couple of extra days and then make the call. Good Luck !, hope you get your check soon.

you can probably forget about the commission, but they have to pay you for any time actually worked - threaten them with lawsuit, and reporting them to the IRS and State Dept of Labor if they don't give you the check by the time the next normal payday would have been or if that has already passed, they better have a check in the mail to you by the day after you call them send a certified letter

Call her & ask her if she mailed it out. If she is in insurance, she knows a thing or 2 about the law. She has to send it to you. You don't owe them uniforms or anything do you? There are some circumstances when they are allowed to hold your last check.

i would wait a day or two, because maybe it got mixed up in the mail or something. if it doesn't come in a few days, i would go in and personally see your boss and tell her you haven't received it and ask if she's sent it out yet.
