I've only had this problem when inebriated. ;) Afraid of ye olde foot-in-mouth syndrome, eh? It happens to most people at one point or another, but if it's chronic, it may point to episodes of verbal mania. If it becomes a problem, you may want to persue some form of behavioral therapy, ecspecially if the sensation of being 'out of control' is fairly--extremely intense.

Yes, it is a sign of immaturity. I used to do it and really get myself in trouble or embarrass myself. Your brain and mouth just take over. You need to slow down and think before your speak, every time. It takes practise and hard work to stop this behavior.
As you get older you slow down a bit.
