Buddy if you've been an *** for a long time then you won't be able to undo that image overnight because that's how people have come to know you so doing nice things out of the blue will only lead to suspicion .You have to give it time and be persistent as well as consistent.Karma is a *****!P.S. while bending backwards in proving you've changed be aware of people who will take advantage of you-be sure to set them straight.Just because you're turning a new leaf does not mean that you give your power over to people.Know that if being an *** made you disliked then the new nicer you will eventually win people over provided you are genuine-because people will test you from which you can reflect and learn to and also know how far you've come, how you feel, have yet to go,etc.Keep on,keeping on!!!!!!!

I think that they are still feeling the sting of your bullying. After people experience that kind of treatment they are not so quick to trust.

Maybe you should start fresh, with the congregation at your church, by apologizing to them for your past behavior and ask that they give you a chance to prove you are a changed man.

Remember hate is a strong word. I feel that in order to be hated, people have to know you personally. It's just my opinion.

Good luck, tacobob

It's hard to overcome first impressions. If everyone remembers how you use to be it might take them a longer time to see the change in your ways. Just stay focused and on the new course you've set out on. And remember you don't always have to DO nice things for people... you shouldn't feel like you have to do things for people to like you. Just be nice and friendly and start conversations with people – old and new. I think the more friendlier and approachable you seem I think things should just sort of start to fall into place.

maybe you're giving people mixed feelings and that makes them feel cautious of you.... you say here you were a bully at church ~ yet, in another of your questions you say you're too shy to approach a girl you have feelings for. Perhaps you should do nice things for yourself and learn to appreciate yourself for your positive changes so far and not be concerned with what others think right now. In time, you'll have grown more positive and self assured and others will automatically be drawn to you ~

I do not think they hate you per say. It is just that they can't forget what you did to them. if you have changed, then in time they will see, and if they are a christian they will forgive you! What you have to do is to ask God for forgiveness, and he will, then you have to forgive yourself. and try and do all the right things!

welll if you were that mean, they could hate you. but remember that you are in church, so if you let people know you have changed, then they will forgive you. appologize to all of the people you really hurt, and tell them that you were just young and stupid....and just go out of your way to be nice to people, and chances are if they hated you they will forgive you.

Its hard for people to get over grudges, have you ever apologized to these people? Tell them that you were just a stupid kid at the time but now you are a changed person.

yes probably they do. some people have trouble forgiving what other people have done to them. Go up to those people and say that you are truely sorry for what you have done and say you feel bad, but is there anything I could do to make you forgive me and let me be your friend?
Hope this helps.
