That depends on the industry you are going into and where you live.
If you are a teacher, your salary can range from $20K to $50K starting. Again, this is dependant on your area of the country.
If you are interested in business, many MBA students have English degrees. You can also go into law school with an English degree. You can be a copy editor, a researcher or a reader for a publishing company or newspaper. You can become a journalist for a magazine or newspaper as well. You can be a writer, actor, playwright, screenwriter, politician, office manager, etc etc etc ad infinitum!
Don't be fooled by people who seem to think a BA in English Lit limits you to teaching. It doesn't. Check out employers and see what they require - any degree or a specialized degree. You can do a crapload with an English degree.
GOOD LUCK! :o)

You don't automatically get a salary when you get a degree, you know...and the only career option I know for an English major is to teach, but you'd be very lucky to find a professorship with a BA - you either need a graduate degree (Masters or Doctorate) to teach at the college level, or another BA in Education to teach in public school.

most resturants pay wait staff somewhere between 2.35 and 6 dollars and hour. you'll have to make the rest up in tips. but don't count on it, your attitude will be so shitty due to the job, low pay, hours, and your student loan debt, that nobody is going to tip you any way
