something is wrong with the ide cable or connector on the motherbaord. #0 would saying your primary hard drive. could also be the hard drive. if your handy with computers open it up and see if you can find where the hard drive connects to the motherboard. the first thing i would try is disconnect that cable from both the motherboard and the hard drive then reconnect. see if that fixes it. if not try replacing that cable. if you dont feel confident to do this you will have to take it in some place to get fixed, but this isnt really very hard to do. good luck

Why don't you call Toshiba Global Support at 1-800-457-7777.
I have had nothing but trouble w my year-old Toshiba Satellite since day One. I understand that sometimes Microsoft updates will make it impossible to run certain software-- really great, huh? Try holding down the Power Button for at least 10 seconds.
If you get Toshiba on the phone, they can lead you thru a systems restore.
Toshiba paid for 2 repairs to my year-old Satellite notebook,( the one I paid $1000 for last year, that costs $499 this year, printer included.) I'm so sick of computers-- they wind up costing you like a boat.

It seems that you have a hard-disk related error. It's time to backup the data ASAP. Send the computer to a reliable shop for for repair. In the meantime, do not try to switch on/off the computer - It may worsen the condition. Good luck!

Replace the HDD and restart the laptop.

If you still have the same problem then the IDE channel on the system board is stuffed and you will need to replace the system board (Not cheap!!)

If the problem is resolved then install you operating system onto the new HDD and contineu on working. (The Not cheap version)

Sounds like your hard drive came unplugged from your motherboard somehow. Either that or you dropped your laptop and it ruined the hard drive. You might need to open it and make sure the connections are being made.

It's probably a flash error. Try updating or reinstalling flash. There is a guide for it on the flash website.

I think your IDE controller is loose or damaged! If the HDD is ok the failure can only be at the IDE Controller and this controller is at the mainboard!
