I am having some sheet rock delivered to my house and it has to be boomed through the 2nd story window; in order to do so I have to remove it...any help?

The house is only 2 years old - new windows. I can't go through the front door because the stairs are too tight to get it in the room.

Dedending on the size of the window, just the removal of the sashes may be the answer. If so tape a piece of wood to the sill to protect it. If not enough room, removal of the whole window unit could be a little complicated, depending on your homes exterior. If the exterior of the window has trim, with a little care it could be removed to expose the nailing fin. If this is the case, use a utility knife to score all the caulk and paint before removal of any interior or exterior trim. This will save lots of grief and split wood. If you`ve found you can expose the fins, you will find a flat bar driven behind the fin at each fastener will probably loosen them enough to be pulled. If they`re screwed in you`ve got it made. You may have to fight to release the caulk behind the fin. Usually a razor knife works well. I would remove the sashes before removal of the frame. Makes for easier removal and handling on 2nd floor. If by some unlucky chance your exterior is brick or some sort of clapboard sided right up to the window, you`ll be looking at some extensive repairs. Hope not,GOOD LUCK

Depends on what kind of window you have.A new construction window will have the screws on the outside and a replacement window will have the screws on the inside. You will also need to cut the caulking around the window with a utility knife. When i say the replacement window screws will be on the inside i mean they will be between the glass on the sides

actually a window is only held in by a couple nails on the outside flange. remove molding try not to break it, knock out shims, pry out the nails, hopefully you don't have siding on the outside it'll be alot easier if you don't

why does it have to be boomed normally they can carry it thru your man door, you must have alot being delivered try carrying it instead of removing the window ,
