It will become illegal to use a rear-ward facing child restraint in a vehicle seat which is protected by an active front airbag. It is not currently - nor for a forward facing child seat to be used in the front of a car fitted with a passenger side air bag. However it is NOT SAFE! The child would be safer in the back in a proper child seat.
Some car manufacturers supply child seats which carry a device to disable the air bag when using a child seat - give your dealer a ring. Mine was able to supply a proper seat to fit into the front seat of a two seater car.

Children aged 3 and above, until they reach EITHER their 12th birthday OR 135cm in height
In the Front Seat
The child MUST use the correct child restraint.
In the Rear Seat
The child MUST use the correct restraint, where seat belts are fitted.
There are three exceptions where there is not a child seat available. In each case the child MUST use the adult belt instead. They are -
1) in a licensed taxi or private hire vehicle;
2) if the child is travelling on a short distance for reason of unexpected necessity;
3) if there are two occupied child restraints in the rear which prevent the fitment of a third.
In addition, a child 3 and over may travel unrestrained in the rear seat of a vehicle if seat belts are not available.
It is the driver's legal responsibility to ensure that the child is correctly restrained.

It's total unsafe doesn't matter which way the seat is facing. You could have the air bag switched of.
Why not just put the child in the back like most sensible parents do

Just use common sense there.
Don't put a child in a forward facing seat in the front of your car which has an airbag.
If your child is three why don't you put him in the back. He will be safer there.

yes you can but if you have a air bag on the passenger's side turn it off that's if you intend to fit a baby seat there if not leave it switched on

Sorry this age must be in the rear in a child seat - not sure but think they now have to face rear as well.

Wouldn't recommend it, don't think it is legal with airbag in any event. Surely they would be safer in the back?

DO NOT PUT HIM IN THE FRONT SEAT!!! HE COULD BE KILLED IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS!
