Exactly. The term neo-con usually misused to refer to the ultra-conservatives or to the moderates in the Republican party.

Ultra-liberals ususally misuse the word to describe moderate ex-Democrats who are now Republicans. They think the moderates have moved right when in reality the democratic party has shifted far to the left.

Neocon was first used in modern politics to describe "Reagan Democrats."

Neoconservatism is a perimeter motion inside the Republican Party that broke clear of the Democrats within the Sixties and 70s. It is a international coverage-established ideology that in the beginning supported agressive anticommunism. Many present neocons began out within the Reagan administrations. After the Cold War they misplaced prominence however reemerged within the past due Nineteen Nineties after developing a brand new doctrine of interventionism and aggressoin with PNAC. George W. Bush crammed his cupboard with wonderful neocons who formed such a lot of his insurance policies. Domestically and economically they're social conservatives who rejected the counterculture and the New Left of the Sixties. Neoconservatism is now a useless ideology as proven via the 2006 and 2008 elections and monetary and worldwide parties for the duration of President Bush's lame duck interval. Liberals usually use the insult "neocons" towards all Republicans for the reason that neoconservatism, despite the fact that a perimeter motion, was once the dominant ideology of the Republican Party underneath George W. Bush from 2001 - 2006 Neoconservative was once in the beginning a phrase used to explain the ones Democrats who had switched to the Republican Party, however the ideology they headquartered continues to be known as neoconservatism. Most Republicans blindly adopted Bush despite all of the contradictions among conventional American conservatism (what Bush known as "compassionate conservatism - suppose Lincoln, TR, Ike) and neoconservatism (suppose Cheney, Rummy, and Dubya).

That isn't want it means to me, and despite the fact that you seem to believe you are the authority on the subject, I will offer my own definition. You may scoff at me, as seems to be the way of types like you, and that is meaningless to me, so knock your socks off. A political conservative is one who believes in the benefits of reduced governmental intervention in the lives of its citizens. This generally expresses itself in cuts to social welfare programs, and eased regulations of corporations. Neo-conservatives, on the other hand, are more interested in the "moral" role of government. They seem to prefer our government legislate on moral issues, such as abortion (ban it), end of life decisions, gay rights, and the like. These folks seem to want alot of governmental intervention into private family matters, while saying very little about the fiscal responsibility for spending and other issues traditional conservatives used to promote.

You know, I find it rather odd you put down liberals for "reporting" you, yet you resort to name calling within your first sentence. You can only be TRYING to inflame with that tone. It is immature, and if you truly wished to educate someone, you do not accomplish that by berating them. You accomplish nothing other than making yourself sound like a sad and angry person. How unfortunate to be you.

So happy I could get under your skin and draw some more venom out of you. hahahahaha. Wow, resorting to the fatter, uglier barb--WOW, you're a clever clever gal. Devastating.
