Just curious as to why his identity is such a secret int he mainstream media. The only explanation I can think of, since this tactic has been used so many times in the past (Seattle shootings, etc.), is that he's a Muslim and the FBI is afraid of anti-Muslim backlash.

I doubt that he is a Muslim. If he were a Muslim with a radical inclination, he would not have issued that threat. He rather would have planned such an event, and one would only know when, or if he was caught. But if he is like most Muslims and not of a fanatical and murderous bent, then he would know better than to do such a thing, given the current unfriendly and downright hostile climate toward Muslims.

The man who issued that threat was a fool who now regrets the trouble in which he finds himself.

One would think that by 20 years of age, that chap would be intelligent enough to know that the government takes such things very seriously? He should have known that if, or rather when, he was caught, he would find himself residing in prison for some time. The stupidity of some people both astounds and frightens me.

Your question shows how this world has deteriorated because of the prpaganda and war on terror. Is it possible to ask the question in other way.. Is the Wisconsin 'dirty bomb' suspect a Jew (a hindi, a japanese, achinese) would not seem a silly Q. but when it was about muslims, there are people who replied to you. Thanks God, they mostly said no. Please understand that there are few bad muslims and many good ones (like in any other religion or nation, of course) that is all. On the other hand, I do beleive that if he was a muslim, it would be announced to every creature in the universe so that people hate them more and more. Peace to you and to Wisconsin from a muslim.
