My son can be the same way sometimes... he's a year old. He does this when i change his diaper too sometimes. We have a worm that if you pull it, it plays music and has a couple of lights that come on- it's hanging up above the changing table... so i'll play that every time, which takes his attention towards that instead of what I'm doing. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. One other thing I do before I dress him- I put lotion on him, and he loves it! i rub it in my hands so it's not too cold when I put it on him. I get a giggle out of him sometimes. but yea, sometimes the funny faces, just anything in general doesn't work... so I just talk to him softly and tell him this is what we have to do, and it will soon be over, or I sing to him- that helps too.

She's around 8/9 months! It wasn't that long ago that she couldn't move too much on her own. Now that she knows how, she doesn't want to stop. Besides, how much fun would it be to just lay there and let Mommy change you? It's way more fun to twist and turn and kick and watch Mommy make funny aggrivated faces. What I found to make dressing easier with my wiggle-worm kids is to stick my hand up the bottom of the pants leg, then grab their foot and pull it through. Much easier than trying to push a leg and foot down the pant leg. And get used to watching your little girl move all over the place...just wait till she starts walking!

My 12 month old does the same thing. Sometimes he just downright throws a fit! It was all good when it was warm weather because he just wore a diaper most of the time. But now that it's getting cooler, I just dread getting him dressed. I can't do much to calm him down. He hates it no matter what I do.

First, how old is your baby, you don't mention?
Second, most babies and even little kids do this because they are getting a reaction out of you - even if it is a bad reaction.
Third, something you could try is "Where is.......?" and you name a body part. For example when putting on pants say where are you feet, and hide them in the pants. She should try to wiggle her feet into the pant leg so that you can see them where the feet are suppose to come out. This game also helps her to recognize her body parts.
My youngest son was like this and this is what I did. He is 2 now and we still play this when I am getting him dressed. Good luck!!

my baby also hates to get dressed . It can be frustrating but what i try to do is make him laugh. usually i lay him on my bed to get him dressed and I sit at his feet with my legs crossed at the same time that i am dressing him i bounce on the bed and make any funny sound i can think of. It usually gets a few giggles.

I sing to my daughter and tell her what items of clothing we are putting on and where they go.
For instance: "Okay, now Mommy is putting your socks on your feet and this keeps your toes warm. You have five toes on each foot and you have two feet. Okay, now we are putting on your pants and we put those on one leg at a time. You have two legs -- a right leg and a left leg, and first goes your right leg and now your left leg, etc., etc., etc."
My daughter gets so fascinated by this activity that she forgets to fuss. This will also help develop early language skills.
I talk to my baby about EVERYTHING and she responds so much better than trying to hold her down or to get frustrated.
Remember, when she can sense you are stressed out, she is going to get stressed out.
Good luck!

My son does the same thing especially while I'm changing his dirty diapers. I usually have to give him a little toy or a clean diaper to play with to keep him distracted so he doesn't move around anywhere. Good Luck. I know it can be frustrating when they won't sit still.

Why can't you make funny faces every time? Don't forget that, for right now, she's the boss, not you. You have to do everything in your power to keep her happy, not vice versa.

i found that singing calms my daughter at changing time and i also keep flashcards at the changing table to give to her so i can get her dressed, she seems to get distracted by looking at them and squirms a lot less, the flash cards that i have also have a textured feel to different pictures, it also teaches baby as it occupies them, hope you give it a try and let me know if it works for you.

Why can't you do it everytime? If it works use it. I would suggest making getting dressed fun instead of a chore. Happy talk, faces, singing...
