Being confident in social situations takes some practice, a degree of confidence and a larger scope of interest. Try reading the paper or Internet news site to find interesting things to share with your friends. Guaranteed that when you know more about a topic than others, your confidence will rise. Good luck.

When they next say 'hello', why not ask then what they think about something that's of interest to your age group - e.g., sport, a TV programme, fashion (if you are a girl!), a new teacher, a school subject - in fact anything that will make them continue to chat to you. You'll then find yourself talking back, and before you know it, you'll be on friendly terms.
I think you are probably just a little shy at the moment, but you'll soon get over it and become 'one of the gang'. Good luck, anyway.

I don't think that would make you a bad friend, but just kinda speachless at the moment.Maybe try bringing up a subject that you can talk about with your friends. That way you can all enjoy each others company and maybe share how before it was hard for you to find sumthin to add to the subject or to just say about it?
The fact that you don't know wat to say is probably that you might be shy and miht not feel so well come to say sumthin? But I wouln't know.:D
