The Indian government has a policy not to take any action against the Muslims, even if they act against the country. And there are some Human right activists, who cry from roof top, if some muslims are killed, but keep silence, if many Hindus are killed. And there are Roys, Patkars who are hell bent on opposing hanging of Afzal.
What can our poor army can do about Kashmir?
There would not have been Kashmir problem, if Nehru had heeded to the advice of Gen. Thimmaiah. at the time of partition. But, for our politicians, vote bank is more important than the country and the people.

It would be wrong on anyone's part to say the army is not being utilised fully in kashmir or any militant infested area,but we must first understand the whole scenario before concluding.The world would have been much better if only the presence of army could deter militancy,but unfortunately things arn't that way.The country cannot deploy the whole army and order them to start killing militants,there are many factors that have to be taken into considration.militants do not come in the open and say they are militants,they take cover of the innocent civilian population and commit henious crimes and when security forces retaliate militants escape,and innocent civilians get killed,wounded or captured.(how can security forces identify who is and who is not a militant,it's not written on the face).
So coming back to the main point,fully utilizing army in kashmir will give all types of results except for positives one's,less of militants and more of innocent lives will be lost(which is also happening today),there will be several protests in those area's when an innocent life is lost,people would want explanation,human right (human rights people should also go to these militants if they are honest about their work),political unrest,etc.etc.etc.......when all this happens militants and nations suporting these militants have achieved what they have wanted. (unrest in the country that will deter peace,progress and prosperity).
So people do not say army is not being utilised fully,in fact along with the regular forces the army also uses it's special forces (one of the world's finest),in these areas.You will be shocked to know that everyday we loose 4 to 5 officers and soldiers to militancy.So how are these officers and soldiers getting killed,if army is not being copletely utilised?..heh
People for once let's not whine and comment on issues about which we don't have much idea and if concerns are really high then why not join the army or become a great politican and solve the issue.
For now let's just show respect to the brave souls who are fighting militancy everyday so that poeple like you and I can live our life peacefully,and have this discussion on yahoo.

There is nothing called Hindu or Muslim favouritism in this matter. BJP and Congress governments have both fooled the nation called India. Similarly, in Pakistan, ruler after ruler has fooled Pakistanis on Kashmir issue. They have also not decisively acted in the matter at least for the Indian government to once and for all finish the matter. The political will is totally absent to settle the issue in any political party in power in India and also Pakistan. Hence, this issue will remain a MILITANT issue till kashmiris themselves walk away and make it a noman's land for the governments to decide.
Indian Army is getting butchered every now and then by the faulty and faalthoo decisions of government of India. They donot want to use the Indian Army in full and settle the matter. In another 100-200 years also this issue will remain as it is and the younger generation then, will laugh at it and hold the elders of the past irresponsible citizens worth nothing.
The answer to this question is POLITICAL WILL IS NOT THERE IN ANY POLITICAL PARTY IN INDIA AND ALSO IN PAKISTAN to settle Kashmikr issue once and for all.

The constant struggle for Kashmir helps both Indian and Pakistani Elite to stay in power.This is like a never ending story.

Indian army is meant to protect the country from outside forces. They can be used for internal disturbances if needed on exigencies. Keeping Army for long will not be good decision for a democratic Govt.

hahaha we had to do this for our coursework! i could tell u all about kashmir! but i dont get ur question. if u mean why arent the indian army being used to their best in kashmir its coz they do have other priorities and stuf.
