At the age of 24, to still not know quite what you want to do in life? Isn't 24 the age where you're supposed to have direction, and a lot of things figured out about life? A lot of people have children and marriage by 24....... So, if a person is 24 and aren't sure what they want to do, would you say they are behind?

You are perfectuly normal!!!! Alot of those 24 year olds who are married with children, will not be in the same position at 34. Chances are they are struggling emotionally and financially.

I'm not saying party like a wild woman, or live like a bum, but enjoy life, explore your talents and abilities and find out what interests you. Figure out what you are passionate about and find a career that might blend your talents and passions. The more you experience life before you get married and have children, the more you have to offer your mate and your children. The more stable you are in your career, the better off the whole family will be. Good Luck to you!!!

Everyone is different. I didn't know what i wanted to be until i was about 30. Until then i took jobs doing administrative work. You are not behind because there is no real "deadline". What you should really look at is what kind of hours do you ideally want? do you like only the daytime hours, or would you work shift work. Would you rather be the boss, an employee or the owner? How much money would you like to make? Then consider all the jobs that will get you most of what you want.

ie: i was a single mom, and I knew I would never get ahead financially working in offices doing paper work. The first thing i looked at was hours I wanted to work. I didn't really want shift work because my kids were still young. Then I considered money. I knew I had to at least double my income after going to school, so that narrowed things down nicely. I was left with medical /dental courses or trades (like mechanics) I knew that the trades were not for me. The next thing i considered was the length of time I would need to be in school and how much I would make at the end of each course. Nursing was a good option, but involved shift work. Dentistry was too long (7 years), but Dental Hygiene was only four years long and hygienists don't do shift work, and make the same or more than nurses do. For me it was a no-brainer after that. I hope that helps. Good Luck, don't panic, you won't turn into a pumpkin or anything.

No, I would not say that person is behind. I am 30, married, and have 3 sons, but I still don't know what direction I want to go in life. I think there a lot of things that happen in life to change directions too. Just when I think i have my life goals in order, something happens and I have to start from square one all over again. Enjoy life and do what makes you happy and go from there. That is all you can do.

Nope. At 24, your whole life is ahead of you. No one really knows where they'll end up anyway, so not having a plan isn't going to change that much. Now, if you're 24 and not doing anything productive, then maybe it's time to consider getting a life plan.

I'm 24, married and about to have my first baby, and I still don't really know what I want to do. I've always known I wanted to be a mom and have a family, but as far a "careers" and whatnot, I'm still a little lost.

You are not behind. Live your life as you like, not according to someone else's schedule. Many people go through multiple career and life changes before they find what they truly want. I think it's a little naive to believe we can make our mind up at 18 go to college and live our life according to that plan.

No they are not behind in anything, but they might be lacking
confidence. The capacity of every individual differs. The
maturity level or the thinking level varies individually.Even at
the ripe age of 40 some persons are not sure about their
priorities. So have confidence and think positive and have the
attitude that whatever you do is right.
