It's a lot of fun however to be a licensed designer you need either a combination of 2 years of school (associates degree) and four years experience OR four years of school (bachelors degree) and two years experience before you can sit for your exam. You have choices in what you want to specialize in for example: "kitchen and bath" is the most common specializations for those who want to specialize. Once you are licensed you can work with partners, part of a design team, or for yourself. Networking throughout your education and training is vital. Many times your professors will tell you of jobs or contracts available to student designers to help with that. The initial cost is high. Just the materials you will need for presentations is a few hundred dollars worth. The mat board cutter is expensive but you can find cheap ones sometimes through professors. The benefits of being able to work for yourself doing something you are passionate about is worth every penny and more. It's a lot of fun, I definatly recommend it.

I think it would be awesome! If you're interested in decorating & have a flair for it, go for it! I had fun decorating my own home & have had people tell me I should be an interior decorator but I never pursued it.

Good luck! If it's something you're interested in, go for it! It would be fun & you'd get to meet a lot of people. You could start off working for a firm & eventually made have your own business & make a lot of money doing it!
