maybe 1-2 jars at the very most of baby food. Rice cereal, or baby cereal is fantastic, made with formula.

Just make sure he/she's still getting enough in the way of formula, it should be more bottles than spoon fed foods. They dont really digest the solids well yet, and depend on fluids for the bulk of their nutitional needs.

My baby is 7 months old and he barely eats anything. I give him a bite of whatever I am eating if he seems interested, if not he only has breastmilk. He sleeps through the night just fine without food. I wouldn't give the baby too much to start out with. Just see how much he wants but breastmilk/formula should always be given first and should be the bulk of their diet. You should never give your baby more solids than milk because it doesn't have enough fat and calories for their brain to grow correctly.

My children were not very into baby food, but ate at a young age, usually by 2 months, most people think that's early, but when breast milk and formula weren't enough you figure it out. As for your question, it depends on the child, if (s)he is fussing and not sleeping through the night, try baby cereal, use rice cereal first, it will keep them from getting gassy, but at six months your baby should be eating at least 3 times a day. Introduce new foods one at a time so if (s)he is allergic to anything you know what it is. If your baby doesn't like baby food (as mine didn't) try soft table foods like mashed potatoes, or smashed steamed carrots, anything cut VERY tiny and soft. GOOD LUCK!!

Well, you can start out with Stage 1 Gerber, or any other, jar food. Stage 1 foods are not chunky, no real texture so it is easy for babies to swallow.

I gave my twins two jars a day, both at dinnertime. One jar of a meat and one of a veggie.

In the morning, I feed my twins oatmeal cereal and add a jar of fruit.

Here is the Gerber Baby Foods website for feeding stages:

Hope this helps you...

As long as there isnt alot of preservatives in the food then its okay for the baby to eat solids everyday.

When you are just starting out.......1/2 a jar...of each item.
don't give too much.......
one food at a time for a few days to watch for any kind of reaction to the food.......
And start with veggies...alternate between green and yellow/orange
then the meats
and then the fruits........

EVery baby is different, but for mine, since I started them on cereal at 4 months, by 6 months they were eating 3 meals a day. Cereal and fruit for breakfast, cereal and veggies for lunch, and fruit and veggies for dinner.

if your baby is breastfeeding then she doesnt need a lot of food until she is 1 ..... breast milk has enough good stuff till then....... if you going to feed her food then make sure there is nothing harsh in it ........ no salt butter anything like that ....five her bananas and things like that. The kidneys and liver can be damaged later in life from feeding your baby a lot of food that is not good for her....... ask your health professional what you should be feeding him/her

not very much because you might not know what he/she is allergic to, I gave my daughter a tomato and she had an allergic reaction. so just so one thing at a time to find out if it's ok.
