I have an unfinished basement and I am in need of off season storage for clothing, we have always talked of building a cedar closet,my husband is handy and could follow some plans or build a kit does anyone know where we could find such a thing? Please and thanks!!!

Home centers have kits for this but if he can build a wall he can do it. Four walls or 3 if against existing watt and take it to existing ceiling. You can buy cedar wood panels to line the walls with, not a hard project.

Since cement retains cold it will cause your wood to expand and contract. a Vapor barrier and even a thin carpet padding would be a good idea even if you don't add a sub-floor. As for the walls you will find that heating and cooling will be much more efficient if you use sheetrock first. Even if you don't tape and bed the seams there will be less draft with the wallboard behind the cedar. You may want to look at the new floating floors. I'm not sure of they are available in cedar but this would be perfect for your application. It is not very expensive either. Possibly cheaper than regular plank or slab cedar. Rough cut cedar may run a close price comparison though!
