Let's say you're married for 10 years. Your spouse decides that since he is not your mother, he is not getting you a card, or anything really but a pat on the back to say happy mother's day.. what would you say his problem is, and how do you tell your girlfriend (the wife) this?

By the way - yes, they have kids, and SHE does the mother's day shopping for His mom, or he'll leave it to last minute and plead busy.

And since you are not his mother, quit doing anything that one would do, ie looking after his children, cleaning, cooking etc etc.

I'm sure that he would soon find a way of valuing what it is that you do and, when that time comes, remind him sweetly that diamonds are a girls best friend.

It's true, you're not his Mother. But he is a Father that should be teaching his children how to appreciate they're Mother and showing her respect. He should be taking the kids to help pick out a card and maybe buy some flowers or something. Don't let him get away with it. Tell him this and see if he understands how important it is to teach your children how to celebrate and appreciate the kindness you show them all year long.

Screw his momma! She doesn't deserve anything. She didn't teach her son very well. I'm a firm believer in when you get married you are married, act like it. He should be getting his wife something from their kids and something from himself saying that he thinks she is doing a good job. Also if you get if for your mom you should get it for your wife. His problem is that he doesn't understand that mothers day isn't just a day for kids to say thank you, it is for anyone that knows that mother is doing a good job to let her know. She had better not get him anything for fathers day.

I'm trying to understand - you're saying your friend's husband doesn't get her anything for Mother's Day? If she's a mom to his kids, that's mean. If they don't have kids, that makes total sense.

the gifts and cards should come from the kids not the husband . . .the husband should be getting his mom a gift/card . . of course the husband is the one helping the kids get their mom a gift/card.

My husband of 18 yrs doesn't get me a mothers day gift/card but he makes sure my sons give me something. After all I am their mother not his.
