Do 18 year olds not move? Why do they make the age 21 to rent a moving truck? How do I go about getting one?

DO I have to have the person that rents it at the destination place when I get there? How does all of this work? Dot inspections?

If you have a valid driving license and a credit card, shouldn't be no problem at all to rent a truck.

If you rent from certain companies, they will let you use a debit card or cash instead of cc if you are over 25. Your deposit may be higher, but you will be able to rent and get your money back for deposit once you rent the truck. Make sure you get the LDW as trucks are considered commercial and your regular car insurance will not cover any damage to the truck. It will cost you a few more dollars, but it will be worth it, especially since regardless of your boyfriend's and the other drivers skills, there are people out there that are terrible drivers. At the end of the day, you are getting it in case one of THOSE drivers happens to be driving around you. It also buys you peace of mind and that is priceless. Good Luck! I ALWAYS use Enterprise vans, or UHaul pick ups.

If you're moving from your parents house, have one of them rent it for you. You can always pay them for the rental fee. The only thing that'll happen here is that the one that rents it for you will also have to be the one to turn it back in. But, your parents should be willing to help you anyway.

YOU DON"T! They are very strict with their rental of trucks and the government just cracked down even more with license requirements and weigh station requirements for rental trucks. They are also now subject to all DOT inspections!
They don't want "kids" running down the road with trucks and their ability to kill people!

Use your fathers credit card and buy insurance on the vehicle your renting to move. Make sure that an adult is driving the vehicle too.
