in 2004 when the president was re-elected the voter turn out hadn't been that high since 1968 when the Vietnam war was going on i think there is a reason. it is a time of change and people want a change. sadly thou voting is almost useless when it comes to choosing a president. we don't really choose him, the electoral college does. because if we chose Kerry would be president now. so we should get rid of the electoral college and vote.

Are we talking about the congressonal elections this nov.? No I think it is about time that we put this entire government into check by electing a majority democratic congress. Government has run amok, with the republicans passing bill after bill with no recourse by our minority democrat--you need opposing parties in the presidency and the congress to maintain the all important checks and balance system, and as a liberal, it didn't work with a Dem. Carter as pres.with a democratic congress (though corruption wasn't a problem as much as bad legislation), and it doesn't work with this administration and congress either.

EVERY election is the least bad of the choices, as are many choices in life in general. No candidate is perfect.

I wish people would not get discouraged. it's a natural impulse to want to wash one's hands of the dirt of the campaign and not sully oneself with it. But we don't have a choice. Voting is the one chance we get to really speak out. If you don't vote then don't complain. It's not "noble" to withdraw from the process, it's a cop-out. The candidate you like LEAST wins something if he or she gets you to stay home and not vote for the opponent - that's almost as good as getting you to switch your vote to him or her.

Making no choice IS making a choice - to in effect help the person you are LEAST likely to vote for.

I have to take a sick relative to the hospital for major surgery on Nov. 7. I went to the trouble to apply for an absentee ballot.

If I can do it, others can get out there and vote too!!!

Thanks for the soapbox! :)

Nope, I have a theory, vote or shut up.
More Democrats are registered than Republicans, but less vote.
If they don't like it let them get up off their fannies and spend some time to get someone in they like more.
Neither party is perfect, neither will always reflect your views.
Get your information from a variety of sources and make up your own mind.

Absolutely not -- everyone should go to the polls and vote for all the Independents on the ballot! How much worse could it be? Maybe then the republicans & democrats will start paying attention & act on the will of the people!
