I have 4 earned vacation days and would like to use them the last 4 days of my 2 weeks notice. Does anyone know if this is acceptable or even permitted to do?

I know our policies state that I will get paid for them if not used. I doubt they will find someone that fast to take my position. It was vacant for over 4 months when I was hired.

Have you considered taking those 4 days immediately, before the 2 week notice time period begins?

If your company is totally clueless of your intentions to resign, don't be surprised if they don't want to let you use your vacation time immediately.

While vacation time is something you earn, it isn't something you can just assume is there for the taking. Manning issues and scheduling are affected when employees use their vacation time.
BTW, get copies of all your performance feedbacks if you can before you leave.
Good luck...

With the company I work for , yes. If you are needed for the 2 weeks notice to train someone as your replacement then the company might balk at it. At bare minimum you should be paid for them.

best one to ask is your employer - the reason for 2 weeks is to hire and transition someone into your position - it might cause a hardship if you are not there
