If your company pays employees for Personal Days off (Personal Leave, or something similar). Your company might consider family bereavement leave as a Personal Day or the use of the Personal Days may be discretionary on your part. Talk to your HR person, if you have one, or your supervisor.

Employers don't have to pay for hours not worked under federal law. If your employer has a policy allowing paid bereavement days, then yes, you will be paid. They may also allow you to use paid sick or vacation days. But if not, no, you won't be paid, and there is nothing you can do about it because it's not required by federal law.

Some companies will and others will not. It just depends on your employer. Most employers will only pay berevement time for direct family menbers, but I do believe I got paid for going to my great grandfather's furneral two years ago.
