I work for a large corporate retail Chain head office. One of my clients employed one of my friends 12 months ago. We had a meeting with the board and they have decided to put 3 people off at the end of the month. One of them happens to be my friend. She has know idea and will be deverstated when she finds out. I have been told to maintain the strictest confidence. but I want to do the right thing by her, but I also have to maintain professionalism. If I tell her she may tell others as she will be negative about the situation, I also would like to find her another job so she doesn't have financial pressures.

What should I do?

I know your between a rock and a hard place. I think you should keep your mouth closed cause you don't need to lose your job too. If both of you are out of work neither of you can help the other. If you were sure she'd keep the secert I would say tell her so she can start her search now. Not in this case she can't hold water. See if you can find her some prospects and have them waiting for her in the wings. Good Luck!

Dont tell her because you are risking your job too pretend like if you dont know and in the mean time try and find her a job and if you do when she gets laid off tell her that you know a place where there hiring. Also she can apply for unemployement because she has been there for 12 months she qualifies for it. There's alot of option its not your fault just try and do the best you can but dont put your job at risk by telling her.

Don't tell her. You could lose your job if someone else found out. When the time comes just be her friend and offer to help her find another job. Good luck!

You shouldn't tell her because you never know what she will do and who will find out. She is getting fired regardless so you shouldn't risk your job on top of it. But when they do let her go do not tell her you knew. Be surprised and then help her find a new job.

This is really nice of you to look out for your friend.....but really you are putting your neck on the chopping block so to speak, do you really think that she will thank you for telling her that she is going to be fired...(more like shoot the messenger time)....if i were you i would not tell her unless you have some weird desire to loose your job as well.
