Does anyone have a favorite mechanic they go to that:

1) treats them fair and is honest
2) offers a low price
3) can repair brake lines, evaporator lines, and fuel lines.

also, have you ever had those 3 parts replaced, for how much, and where? I was quoted a price of $1300!

this depends on a whole lot more information, you say brake lines need replcing do to rust,or age.anyway depending on how thet are repairing the problem will have the largest effect on the overall job.
when they replace the whole line it can get expensive, due to things having to be moved over or removed to gain access.
normally repairs on a car that age can go either way, sometimes lines can be cut and spliced cheaper than replacing.
the toyota dealer will not splice or repair any lines just replace them.
most good mechanics at independent garages can fix such things cheaper.try going to a couple auto parts stores that sell to garages in your town .they can usually tell you where to find the good garages in town.after all they deliver to all of them and in this business news travels fast.
1300.00 does seem high to me,I have been doing work on cars now over 40yrs and it just doesnt sound right

Would it by any chance be the same mechanic that told you you needed all those things?
