I'm Welsh not English.

But I can't forgive them for supporting the IRA.

Especially when they give as their reason that their great great great great grandfather was Irish Catholic so they themselves feel "Irish" etc.

MY great great grandfather was Irish Catholic and I think the IRA are scum. And so do the Irish side of my family!!!

So lets think about it - I'm Welsh and from Irish descent and I still don't wish any ill will towards the "English" or see the IRA as anything other than a nasty evil bunch of murdering thugs.

So what makes the Yanks different? I would imagine it was ignorance, as is usually the case when Americans do stupid things.

No I can't forgive them. It was evil. All those who donated have innocent blood on their hands. They should hang their heads in shame.

Perhaps 9/11 was the wake up call they needed. Not nice when your civllians are slaughtered by people who have a beef with your government now is it? Perhaps you'll think twice before you send a NORAID cheque next time.

Hmm good question, especially as 'all' Americans obviously supported the IRA. What a ridiculous generalisation!!!! For the record, to label the IRA as terrorists is wrong. This was a war, pure and simple, with victims on both sides. I do not support the actions of the IRA, however, I do feel that we have made much progress towards peace in NI by working together. Yes, there are still some major problems and unrest, but hopefully we will never see a repeat of the atrocities from recent years.

They maybe got a taste of how the English felt and went through. Most Americans didn't give to the IRA fighting fund so there is nothing to forgive. I was living in Brighton when the IRA tried to murder the Democratically elected government of Margaret Thatcher and as I was making my way to work I was pulled up by the police to ask what I had in my bag[work clothes] and where I was last night as they thought I was Irish[red hair funny accent] and then discovered that I was Scottish. It was a very Erie experience.

Should we forget then that they pitched in and helped us in 1914 - 1918 and again in 1939 - 1945? How many Americans died so that we could free Europe of the terror of the Nazis? I don't hold that against the Germans - My Dad was a Japanese prisoner of war and worked on the Railway of Death. He didn't hold that against the Japanese so why should I and what sense is there in holding something against a whole nation for the actions of some - who I guess knew exactly what they were supporting and some naively who didn't have a clue?

since 9/11 the IRA murderers have had to stop their terrorism for this very reason.

Americans - notoriously- find it hard to comprehend things that happen outside of America. We shouldn't hold it against them TOO much. They're not stupid, just ignorant. There's a difference.

They thought they were giving money to a little leprechaun shillelagh,( NORAID) they never realised what the IRA actually did with the money.

This is the BIG problem in the world today. Nobody is prepared to forgive and forget.
Should we forgive God for kicking us out of the Garden of Eden?

WTF?????? Learn some history-They were outlawed here and classified as a terrorist group-Now some Irish Americans like NORAD may have helped them.. but to say Americans as a whole is a complete false accusation-but I don't care if the English forgive us or not.... good luck with false grudges in your life

Yes, it's over now, should we still hate the Italians because the Romans conquered us 2000 years ago? Or the Spanish for sending over their Armada? Well actually the Spanish Armada made for some good target practise for our navy so maybe we should actually thank them!!
