They can definitely be compatible. However, there are many other factors to be taken into consideration. Your sun sign (that is what is meant when people say that they are a Virgo or an Aquarius) is only one of many things that matter.
Other important things are, amongst others, your moon sign and your ascendant.
To say that a Virgo girl is compatible to an Aquarius guy is a gross underestimation of what astrology has to offer. You really have to delve deeper into the matter to say anything serious about this. There are some great websites that can teach you these kinds of things.

Yes, they seem to be very compatible. Cameron Diaz is a Virgo and Justin Timberlake is an Aquarius and they've been together a while. Both signs are very cerebral signs, meaning you are both intellectual in that you share a meeting of the minds very well. You understand one another. You make good friends if nothing else. Yes, I´m married with an Aquarius guy for more than ten yrs. Of course there´s always a difference as what Ashley420 mentioned (like other zodiac sign) but we live in harmony.

u shouldn't base it on those kind of things but by my experience i'd say no. my parents were that. my mom's b-day 09/05 my dad 02/18. they were together and married for over 20 years but were never happy and weren't in love. i'm a virgo myself and have found that taurus, aries and sometimes capricorn can be okay matches.
