They had a TV show Archie 20+ years ago. It was a summer replacement series. I found it funny.
I think a movie would work fine.
PS Matthew Lillard is already 36 yo! Way too old.
Mila Kunis is not pretty enough, nor tall enough.
but Topher Grace might pull off Archie

I'd like to see an Archie movie, or even a series, but how to do it without it becoming just another sitcom...?
Here's how: use Archie and Betty's almost-forgotten heroic identities as Pureheart the Powerful and Super Teen (she'd have to be called Superb Woman, now.)
Archie and Betty are married, and each one has a secret identity in which they fight crime, but neither of them has told the other! So they use all the lame old excuses that have become cliches by now for the mainstream heroes; only they use them on each other and the excuses are SO lame that each thinks that the other is cheating on them! So they go on with a lot of angst, saving lives, stopping crime, helping people, wishing their personal lives were no such a mess, and all the time they don't realize how deeply they love each other! Then, along come Reggie (Evilheart) and his sidekick Ronnie (Wealth Woman) to interfere...! It'll be a smash hit, I tell ya.
