First of all you get yourself to a financial advisor or debt counsellor who can talk to these companies and arrange a payment schedule with them you can manage.
They can stop interest being added to the debts which will help.

You get in touch with the child support agency who will make him pay you child support they will take it out of his earnings he will have no choice in the matter

You got yourself out of an abusive marriage and you can get through this also.

First of all, ditch the credit card (always bad news when you can't make ends meet) and if you have a check card ditch that too (not getting accurate amounts on your bank statements lead to spending that you can't afford and subsequent bounce fees). I know it seems like it will never get better, but it will. I'm sure your mom will let the money you owe her wait so pay off (or even ahead) on things like rent and utilities. Join the freecycle in your community so if you need something (like a toy or clothes for your child) you wont have to seek help from your welfare department (unless you want to, and that is your business and you have every right because you are a working citizen). Good luck to you. I've been in debt before and it is no fun but if you cut corners you can pay those bills off!

1) cut up the credit card.

2) Close the account that you are getting NSF's at.

3) Open a new checking accoutn and learn to balance your book. DO NOT do anything 'automated'. If you have to, stop using checks altogether-- isntead pay 79 cents each for money orders. A few $35 NSF or overdraft fees and you've lost $100-- enough for a utility. Its hard when things snowball but you CANNOT charge yourself 'stupid' fees (my term for them) by giving half your check to the bank.

With this method, atleast you konw that on payday a certain number of your bills are paid and what is left is only your spending money. this method saved me when I was being a young idiot and costing myself $200+ a month becuase I couldn't manage to write down checks or automatic deducts. DONT commit to money over the phone that you know you cant pay.

ANd if you have your own cc bills that are unamanageable, go to credit counseling. Also, tell your mom your bills are out of control-- she helped you before, I bet she'll understand- - plus she wants to protect her credit-- she could be REALLY mad if you're late on payments on HER card!

You need to increase your income. Take a second job. If your mom is willing to let you use her credit cards, she'd probably be willing to watch your kid while you're working. But no one is going to hand you the kind of money you need to get out of debt--- you have to bring in more than $516 a week and the only way to do that is to earn more. Take a second job, work real hard till your debt is gone, then look for one single better job that pays you enough money that you can live off of.

seek the advice of consumer credit counseling - they are a free service.
don't write anymore checks
pay by money orders
if you have lots of outstanding checks - close the account before you get more fees
call all creditors and explain
ask legal aid for help even mentally disturbed parents have financial resposibility
return credit card to mom and let her know you are having problems - don't let it ruin her credit

good luck
