the heat on Venus is caused by two things
One is it massive layer of atmosphere and clouds. This layer like our own traps heat and energy from the sun. However the layer on Venus is so thick that most of the energy that reaches the surface of Venus is trapped. The layer of clouds and atmosphere act like a greenhouse. However this layer also reflects most of the incoming energy as well. (hence why Venus is so bright in the sky)
The other reason is its close proximity to the sun, Venus is the second planet from the sun and received a greater amount of energy than the earth.
Even though it is reflecting a lot of energy, Venus receives more energy than the earth and any energy that does reach the surface is trapped to heat the surface over and over again.

Venus is covered by thick, rapidly spinning clouds that trap surface heat, creating a scorched greenhouse-like world with temperatures hot enough to melt lead and pressure so intense that standing on Venus would feel like the pressure felt 900 meters deep in Earth's oceans. These clouds reflect sunlight in addition to trapping heat. Because Venus reflects so much sunlight, it is usually the brightest planet in the sky.

above all doubt, its atmosphere causes the greatest surface temperature of all planets in the solar system. of course, it helps to be the second closest planet to the sun.
please take note not to confuse temperature with surface brightness, which is actually a function of surface material.
venus' atmosphere is predominantly carbon dioxide, the notorious greenhouse gas. you can probably see venus is the example of global warming at the terminal stages. trust me you do not want to live on venus.
we cannot attribute venus' high temperature to solar proximity alone because of the obvious fact that mercury is closer to the sun than venus is. the fact that mercury is cooler than venus is due to mercury being to small to hold an atmosphere worth mentioning.
no atmosphere, no heat retainment.
