brown vs board was probably the biggest mile stone...it pretty much repealed the separate but equal act that the us had been living under for decades, and started the whole process of desegregation.

Brown vs Board of Education was a milestone because it help put an end to segregation. If you don't know the case, it was about a black family that had to take their children to another school across town for blacks, but they lived across the street or close by a school but it was for whites. And so the case obviously was taken to the Supreme Court and smashed the ideology of the Separate but Equal clause because Separate isn't equal. Black schools had poor facilitites, tattered desks and textbooks, and inadequate curriculi. And obviously the whites had better ammenities. Because even though they had their own schools, it wasn't an idea of making the black community able to succeed, but something to give everyone something to think that was equal since they had their own, but by no means was it equal. But yes that was very important because it opened the doors for intergration and for blacks to recieve a better education with better facilities. Google Brown vs Board of Education and you will get a wealth of info about it.
